THE WEST COAST
Chasing adventure, sunsets, deserts and mountains in the USA’s incredible Wild West.
The Concept
The West Coast, A First Real Adventure, Vintage Film and Lifelong Memories.
Life is about moments. Your first ride on a bicycle, your first day at school, that first childhood holiday. The West Coast is short film about those first moments, about chasing the highs and lows that only an adventure can bring.
After years of racing bikes to find my high’s and lows, finishing Dakar with my Dad or travelling to exciting and extreme environments around the world, I get a huge buzz out of bringing those moments to other people.
Armed with a Super 8 camera, a drone and a tent, the plan is to explore 2000 miles of the USA’s incredible Western States with my girlfriend Lucy. As a new adventure rider, Lucy hasn’t had those experiences. The highs of an incredible trail, a perfect campsite and a problem overcome or the low’s of grim weather and being lost in a vast expansive desert.
Wrapping those elements in a nostalgic homage to great road trip films, stories and home movies of the 1970’s by partially shooting on Super 8, we’re going to create a unique, inspiring and emotional short film.
The end goal project is for the output to be engrossing, memorable and as viral as possible. The goal is to achieve this by leaning into the tropes that have been the backbone of the best viral travel and marketing films of the the last decade.
The Location - The Wild West
The Western US States are incredibly unique; empty, vast and ever changing.
While most short adventure films exist within a single environment, the Westerns states of the US allow us an environment that can align with the true capabilities of an Adventure motorycle.
The plan is to film between the Mountains of Salt Lake City in Northern Utah, through the craggy, barren deserts of Southern Idaho, the empty lakebeds of Western Oregon and into the dense, beautiful forests of Washington and the USA’s tallest, snowcapped mountains.

Locations & Concepts
The Western States are enormous and full of stunning locations. Below are some of the potential spots to include.

Concept Videos
This short film is a combination of ideas pulled from some of the seminal films of the modern era. The end goal is to create a short movie that encompasses the incredible feeling of travelling with elements of nostalgia. Across the entire film we’ll incorporate stunning drone shots, a travelling motif, incredible locations and most importantly, a huge dose of nostalgia. The inspiration for this comes from iconic, viral videos like Make It Count by Casey Neistat and legendary west coast films including On Any Sunday and The Endless Summer combined with the popular resurgence of vintage film.
The idea is to blend product promotion into story telling and begin the process of building a strong brand connection. Make it Count is probably the most iconic example of this in the Youtube era, promoting a product that isn’t featured in the core of the video. The video is a simple, clever story bookended by a brand logo and nothing more. It’s not a sales pitch. The elements that truly make this video work are quite simple, the execution is clever and the message poignant.
PROJECT OUTPUT & MARKETING
Marketing Alignement
This film would be built around promoting the MultiTour 7.5 riding equipment and filmed in an environment to match the gear. We’d look to film in late spring, where the mountains still have snow capped peaks and the deserts are sunny. As you can see from the concept images, the American west covers multiple terrains; mountains, forests, deserts and coast lines. The idea is that the environment matches the multipurpose use of the gear.
The other films I have in mind, would match the intended purpose of the FlowTour and DriTour clothing accordingly.
Deliverables
The aim of this project is to create a flagship short film as the primary output. We will look to create one 15 minute video. The goal of this is to create a short film that captures emotion and beauty of travelling in the wilds of the West Coast.
We also have to potential to combine with freelance photographers throughout the journey to assist in capturing imagery for brochures, websites and more.
OUTPUT -
One 15 minute detailed story video.
Short edits designed for Facebook, Instagram Reels and Youtube Shorts.
A library of high quality images including product details, incidentals and social images.
